Interview with Vicki Sullivan
In this video, Emilio Longo interviews Australian realist painter, Vicki Sullivan. Vicki stems from the lineage of the Max Meldrum School of Tonal Realism which is a methodology of painting that was developed by the Scottish-born Australian painter, Max Meldrum, during the twentieth century. Vicki has also completed two trimesters of academic training at the Angel Academy of Art in Florence, Italy. Topics discussed include, Vicki's childhood growing up in Sorrento, Victoria, her early pursuit of the realist tradition and her experiences in trying to learn the craft of picture making as an autodidact, as well as insights into the Angel Academy's approach to figure drawing and discussion concerning Australian art prizes that support traditional realist painting.
