Demonstration with Tim Murphy
In this video, Australian tonal realist painter, Tim Murphy demonstrates painting the tonal realist still life from life. Tim provides a detailed summary of his entire painting process beginning with toning the painting support with an umber ground and creating a scrub-in using the wipeout underpainting method. As the demonstration unfolds, Tim elaborates on his process of blocking-in the still life composition, followed by progressing into painting wet-in-wet using a full palette of colour to resolve the still life painting. Dispersed throughout the demonstration is Tim’s commentary concerning compositional design, proportions, edge control, backgrounds, highlights and colour mixing.
